JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Electrical & Control Tech'n/Technologist.
Reporting to the Trades Management Supervisor - Maintenance, this position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, testing, troubleshooting, servicing, maintaining, calibrating, and overhauling a variety of electrical, electronic, and control equipment. Duties include electrical drafting, installation, and fabrication of electrical/control systems, contract coordination, and preparation of quality control procedures. Maintain up-to-date expertise in relevant systems and software and ensure proper documentation of all work.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Install, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, service, maintain, and overhaul electrical, electronic, control, protection, telecommunication, and testing equipment in generating stations and facilities.
• Assist with equipment and system design, including preparing sketches, drawings, bills of material, and maintaining documentation.
• Coordinate large projects or complex maintenance enhancements, including contract coordination and quality assurance inspections.
• Support the design and development of computer programs to optimize station operations and facilitate system analysis.
• Perform measurements and testing of electrical, control, and protection equipment to recognized standards and procedures.
• Participate in studies related to energy production, load/capacity, and demand management; generate regular and on-demand technical reports.
• Provide technical support, advice, and solutions for projects, daily operations, and emerging technical challenges.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and operating procedures, and contribute to the development and modification of technical standards and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Grade 12 or equivalent and a 2-year college diploma in a related field of study*.
• Valid Certificate of Qualification (309A/D or 442A) preferred; 447A considered an asset.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a maintenance electrician.
• Experience programming and troubleshooting Allen Bradley (ControlLogix), Foxboro I/A (Control Archestra), and Ovation systems considered assets.
• Able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying temperature environments.
• Skilled in operating elevated work platforms and related equipment.
• Holds a valid G class driver’s license in good standing.
• Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
*Relevant Field of Education includes Instrumentation Tech/Technologist; Electrical Tech/Technologist; Electronics Tech/Technologist; Electromechanical Engineering Technology

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
