Position Summary
The Construction Inspector will monitor, assess, evaluate, verify, discuss, decide, resolve, report and document contractor construction activities as to ensure that the CPS Energy design requirements, associated drawings and specifications, along with all Local, State and Federal regulations and industry best practices, are being met in a safely, effective and in an environmentally safe manner.
Tasks and Responsibilities
-Serve as field liaison between contractors, within various areas of CPS Energy, and customers as needed.
-Ensures contractors are working safely and to CPS Energy Standards and Specifications, processes and procedures.
-Ensures contractors are following provided CPS Energy designs and standards coordinating approved modifications as appropriate.
-Attend and participate in preconstruction/planning, on-going construction status, and post-construction meetings.
-Perform field investigations to follow up on work completed and respond to customer concerns.
-Identify, stop and report any contractor safety infractions to CPS Energy management and/or contract crew management.
-Meets with contract foreman to assist in problem resolution.
-Coordinates contractor work with CPS Energy entities and various 3rd party entities.
-Ensures contract work is performed in a safe and timely manner, meeting expected deadlines, and as economically efficient as possible.
-Communicates with designers and other stakeholders regarding all changes made in the field.
-Conduct inspections of Overhead Lines
-Plans, coordinates and tracks work assigned to contractors.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) at all levels of the organization
Aptitude and experience in reading and interpreting construction designs.
Ability to understand safety and company policies and standards
Dedicated and flexible with work time as needed to meet the business needs of work area.
Ability to work Emergency Call Out
Knowledge of CPS Energy construction standards and safety guidelines.
Extensive experience in Overhead construction
Preferred Qualifications
-Experience in 3 phase, Overhead and/or URD/UED construction
-Experience as an Overhead and/or Underground journeyman or above
-Bilingual

Working Environment
Work is performed outdoors with possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Physical Demands
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally with or without accommodation, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Travel between plants as needed. Ability to climb up and down ladders and steps.
