Scope:

Pine Chemicals and Low Carbon Innovation, a specialty business within PSNA, supports the company’s strategy for profitable growth as the low-cost producer of sustainable packaging solutions.

Using an 80/20 approach, our team drives mill efficiency by improving recovery rates of Black Liquor Soap and Crude Sulfate Turpentine from North American kraft pulping operations, and we are a leading producer of Crude Tall Oil, an essential feedstock for the biofuels and biochemicals industries. We serve industry-leading customers who value and share our sustainability commitments.

The Operations Specialist, Pine Chemicals is a supply chain role with expansive responsibilities including elements of procurement, order management, transportation planning, inventory control, and logistics.  This role is critical to maintaining supply continuity and delivering cost-effective solutions to our customers. The Operations Specialist, Pine Chemicals reports to the Operations Manager, Pine Chemicals.

This role may require travel to North American mills and other domestic locations - 10%.

The Job You Will Perform:

-Safety leadership
with regards to the handling, loading/unloading, and transloading of Black Liquor Soap, Crude Tall Oil, and Crude Sulfate Turpentine, maintaining active DOT HAZMAT certification. 
Shares safety learnings and best practices
with suppliers, customers, transportation providers, mill operation teams and HSE support to
reduce NARs and overloaded HAZMAT shipments to zero
.

-Utilize SAP
 to manage purchasing, sales, inventory, and transportation processes. Maintain accurate master data and ensure data integrity.

-Maintain forward-looking logistics plans
that enable maximum throughput at lowest delivered cost, including a minimum 7-day horizon for non-tolling mills and 14-day horizon for tolling mills to support uninterrupted operations.

-Communicate proactively
 with customers, mills, and logistics partners to resolve inquiries and ensure smooth order fulfillment.

-Provide continuous service coverage
(24/7/365) within defined Service Level Agreements to prevent disruptions at IP mill sites and customer facilities.  Requires
rotating on-call support
.

-Manage logistics assets
, including tank trucks, railcars, and stationary tanks. Monitor asset availability, qualification, and utilization across IP and non-IP networks.

-Resolve invoice and billing disputes
 within 5-10 business days in coordination with internal and external stakeholders including mill finance, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure timely payments and support financial performance targets.

The Skills You Will Bring:
Education

-Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
 

Preferred Certifications

-Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) – APICS
-Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt
 

Experience
style="margin-bottom:0.0in;margin-top:0.0px"-
-3–7 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or operations roles.
-Proven track record in process optimization, inventory management, and transportation coordination.
-Experience with bulk chemical transportation and/or hazardous materials handling and DOT HAZMAT compliance is a plus.
 

Technical Skills

-Proficiency in SAP Order Management and/or Transportation Planning functions.
-Strong command of M365 Apps, including Outlook, Planner, Teams, Excel.  Proficiency in Power BI or other data analytics tools is a plus.
-Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).  Familiarity with export logistics is a plus.
