Role Overview
As a Senior Planner, you will play a key role in leading residential planning projects, from early-stage strategy through to determination. This is a highly autonomous role, offering the opportunity to take direct control of planning applications in-house, rather than relying heavily on external consultants. You'll be trusted to bring forward high-quality schemes that deliver both commercial value and exceptional housing.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead residential planning applications from inception to approval, including pre-apps, design input and community engagement.
* Interpret national and local planning policy to support proposals.
* Work closely with local authorities, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.
* Develop and implement planning strategies for each development.
* Prepare planning statements and review supporting documentation.
* Contribute to masterplanning and advise on proposals to ensure compliance with policy.
* Provide guidance and support to junior planners within the team.
* Assist with planning appeals where necessary.
What We're Looking For
* 4-5+ years' post-qualification experience in a planning role, ideally with residential focus.
* MRTPI accreditation (or working towards).
* Strong track record in preparing and submitting planning applications.
* Commercial awareness and confidence in managing consultants.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Experience mentoring or managing junior team members.
* (Desirable) Knowledge of Section 106 negotiations.
