JOB –Product Development Engineer
LOCATION – Glasgow
TERM- Permanent
SALARY - £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, dependent on experience
My client designs and manufactures bespoke metal and plastic products for UK and global customers. They are looking for a Product Development Engineer to join their team in Glasgow on a permanent basis.
The Product Development Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- BEng or BSc Degree qualified or similar in Product Design/Industrial Design/Mechanical Engineering or similar
- At least 5 years of experience working in a Product Development / Design Engineering role within a product development environment
- Innovative, creative and passionate about design and manufacture
- Proficient using 3D CAD - ideally Fusion 360 software but others may be considered
- Previous experience delivering projects from concept right through to manufacture
- Excellent communication skills and organisational skills
- Previous experience coaching, managing or leading others
- Strong analysis, FMEA and DFM skills
- Strong experience with Injection Moulding
- A good understanding of materials and varied manufacturing processes and principles
The Product Development Engineer role will involve:
- Leading teams focussed on the design and development of new products
- Managing and maintaining the process with improvements and new initiatives
- Reviewing, validating and delivering the full product life cycle
- Overseeing deadlines, budgets and timescales
- Providing technical expertise
- BOM management working with the company ERP system
- Always having an appreciation for CI and Lean Manufacturing
- Technically liaising with customers for R&D
