The CMM Technician/Metrologist supports the Traverse City operation, balancing responsibilities between ownership of CMM Programming, Gaging Strategy Assessment and CMM Inspections on 1st shift, focusing efforts on challenging inspections or development product assessment.
Responsibilities:
-Functions as subject matter expert on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T); mentors quality engineers and inspectors on GD&T and Metrology
-Programs Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) for new products and design revisions.
-Executes CMM inspections for production and development activities.
-Assesses new or existing product inspection requirements and selection of the proper inspection technique for evaluating the product.
-Performs Gage R&R Studies to verify gaging selection is adequate.
-Creates Non-Conforming Material reports on product assessed.
-Supports activities to ensure the Quality Management System complies with ISO9001:2015.
-Prepares Quality Documents to support production (control plans, traceability, capability studies and inspection reports).
Requirements:
-3 to 5 years in a similar role, including inspection, geometric dimension & tolerancing, cmm programming, root cause analysis and quality reporting
-High proficiency in CMM programming using Zeiss Calypso software ideal, but open to any commercial CMM software
-High proficiency to read and understand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance, drawings, work instructions and technical specifications
-Strong overall inspection experience with CMM equipment and other manual gaging techniques
-Good knowledge of gage selection and validation techniques
-Problem Solving and excellent written, communication, technical skills
-Experience in management of non-conforming material systems
